Happy Sunday🌼

Many of us fall into the trap of over-apologising and saying sorry for many reasons, like people-pleasing, having low self-esteem or thinking we are not worthy of attention and time. Over-apologising can also be linked to trauma response and mental health conditions, like depression and anxiety. Practising mindfulness and working on our mental health (for example by coming to a Talk for Health group!) can make us more aware of the situations when we say sorry for no reason or due to our lack of self-esteem and past trauma. Just as a reminder, we NEVER need to apologise for:

Saying no
Feeling upset
Wanting to be alone
Doing what’s best for us
Wanting to be alone
How we are feeling
Who we are

Is there anything else you would add to this list?

As always, lots of T4H activities going on as well as interesting events from our partners across Islington, read on to find out more.

Warmest wishes,

Judit and the Talk for Health Team

FREE Ecstatic Dance Special

Thursday, 21st September 18:00-20:00
Islington Town Hall (Upper Street, N1 2UD)
Come get out of busy minds and get into your bodies! Join this silent ‘dance and share’, led by movement expert Iona McNeil.

Dance is a wonderful route to connecting with our inner selves! We will explore ways to move our bodies to express our feelings, using a variety of different songs.

We will guide you into this experience by playing easy movement games, and will use light meditation and visualisations to unlock movement. Followed by a sharing circle.

After leaving her career as an Accountant, Iona trained in Dance Movement Therapy at Goldsmith’s University of London, and as an Ecstatic Dance Facilitator. She is passionate about reconnecting people to their bodies so they can be more of who they truly are.

The second half of the Special will introduce you to, and give you a chance to experience some of the four key learning areas of Talk for Health:

• Open and truthful talking

• Empathic listening

• Basic counselling skills

• How to set up an ongoing group
