Latest Talk for Health News and Upcoming Events (10/12/2023)
Today we spotlight a day of immense significance and universal values – Human Rights Day. Observed annually on December 10th, this day resonates deeply with our core human values of compassion, justice, and the recognition of every person’s inherent worth.
Human Rights Day commemorates the creation of The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in 1948, a ground breaking document proclaiming the inalienable rights of every human being, irrespective of race, gender, language, beliefs, or any other status. This document, translated into over 500 languages, represents a global call for respecting and protecting human rights universally.
Since its establishment, Human Rights Day has become a beacon for progress, symbolizing our collective efforts to ensure the fundamental rights of every individual are respected and upheld – from basic needs like food and shelter to the right to free and uncensored information.
Together, let’s reaffirm our commitment to human rights, not just on December 10th, but every day. Celebrate, educate, and participate – for a world where everyone’s rights are recognized and respected.
As always, lots of T4H activities are going on as well as interesting events from our partners across Islington, read on to find out more.

FREE T4H SPECIAL – New Year Intention Setting
Let go and look ahead: Yin Yoga & New Year Intention Setting
Are you ready to let go of 2023? Do you need clarity about your hopes and desires for 2024?
Let go and look ahead is all about releasing anything that no longer serves you in order to make space for more joy and love.
Through a combination of meditation, breathwork, intention setting and gentle yin yoga poses that release tension in both the fascia and mind, we’ll let of limiting beliefs – uncomfortable truths you believe about yourself that are standing in your way – and make positive plans for the year ahead.
Please bring a pen & paper, comfy clothes and an open mind!
The second half of the Special will introduce you to, and give you a chance to experience some of the four key learning areas of Talk for Health:
• Open and truthful talking
• Empathic listening
• Basic counselling skills
• How to set up an ongoing group
After this event, you can go straight into a Talk for Health Café, where you will learn peer counselling skills and get plenty of space to talk and get/give support.
