Next month marks Talk for Health’s official 10th Birthday with the first day of the first ever programme taking place on 12th June 2008. To kick off celebrations, we wanted to share successes Talk for Health has had over the years as well as give a glimpse of what we might be up to in the future.

Since we developed the Talk for Health offering  – a 4.5-day, Psychotherapist-designed peer counselling and support programme – we have:

  • run 48 Talk for Health programmes, with our 49th now under way
  • a community of some 400 graduates with access to 6 ongoing monthly support groups
  • 50 graduates who have been or are being trained to lead programmes
  • a team of 20 volunteer facilitators without whom our monthly groups wouldn’t be possible

Perhaps most importantly, we continue to provide benefits to those who take part in our programmes: in 2017/18, 75% of participants attained large improvements in well-being and retained significant well-being improvements at 3 months post-programme.

Moving forward, Talk for Health plans to continue running our free, community well-being programmes and to expand our services supporting and impacting people not only in Islington and Camden, but further afield. To celebrate our success, we are also developing variants of Talk for Health tailored specifically for the workplace and for teens. Look out for news on that later in 2018.
